Redeemed People’s Mission Headquarters church, Jos was planted in 1973. Before this time, a series of evangelistic campaigns were carried out in Jos by a group of evangelists from Lagos who felt led to preach the gospel in the northern part of Nigeria. The team was not sent by any church neither were they out to plant new churches but to strengthen the efforts of existing churches with new believers. The converts of the outreaches were channeled to existing churches for discipleship and nurture. However, experience soon showed that these new converts were not cared for by the churches and as such no lasting fruit of the evangelistic outreaches was noticeable.
After much prayer, the leadership of the evangelist team felt led to start planting churches wherever they went to preach the gospel. From the first congregation that was started in Jos, over 80 more churches have been planted in twelve state capitals and surrounding towns and villages.
